Charger Robotics We are Charger Robotics, FIRST Robotics Team 537, from Hamilton High School in Sussex, Wisconsin. We participate in an educational and exciting robotics program sponsored by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).
Mission Statement The mission of Charger Robotics Team 537 is to prepare today’s youth for the jobs and industries of tomorrow in a fun, competitive environment, today. While providing new challenges in real world situations; students gain experience working with mentors, in developing new skills and utilizing problem solving techniques to find solutions to complex problems. Charger Robotics prides itself on being student led and driven, and ever charging into the future, one game at a time.
About Us Since our charter year in 1999, over 184 students and 30 mentors have been involved in Team 537. In this program, students and engineers work together to brainstorm, design, build, and ship a robot in six weeks. While working with new challenges in real world situations; students gain experience working with mentors, in developing new skills and utilizing problem solving techniques to find solutions to complex problems. After a six week build period, our team competes with our robot at regional competitions and possibly the Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. We also vie for several prestigious awards for robot design, engineering appreciation, and community outreach. The team is comprised of three main groups: the build group, the computer support group, and the marketing group. All of these have a major role in achieving the overall goals of the program.
The build group is responsible for constructing a robot within particular height and weight restrictions that can perform certain tasks of a game within a set time limit.
The computer group creates an animated 30 second video which shows the robot in action and conveys the message of FIRST robotics. The computer support group also programs the finished robot.
The marketing group publicizes the program and organizes fundraisers to cover team expenses.
