Charity and Community Involvement

  • Adopt-a-Highway Clean-up
For the past several years, Charger Robotics has participated in the Adopt-a-Highway Clean-up program. At least three times a summer team members go out and clean-up our assigned section of Capitol Drive in Brookfield, Wisconsin.
  • Charger Robotics Invitational
This past year, our team decided to host a summer competition for fun, inspired by IRI. During the competition we added/tweaked rules to make the game more fun and entertaining for the viewers. We added a human player aspect where spectators, or people from other teams played the game acting as the robots. Our goal was to inspire more people to get involved.
  • Dozer Day's
Charger Robotics is proud to have participated in the 2009 Dozer Day event at Halquist Quarry in Sussex, WI. Team 537 partnered with the PAULINE HAASS PUBLIC LIBRARY FOUNDATION to host a robotics demonstration. We were proud to display our 2009 competition robot as well as our Vex robots in order to educate the public about our team and FIRST Robotics program. Through this venue we were able to reach a unique segment of children and adults and expose them to the time, skills and dedication it takes to charge into the future, one game at a time!
  • FIRST Lego League
Each year Charger Robotics mentors FIRST Lego League teams from Templeton Middle School (TMS). It is a great opportunity to stir up enthusiasm for robotics and prepare future members of our team for the FIRST world. In 2009, TMS had enough interested students to support four teams.
  • Lions Daze Parade
Lions Daze is a weekend festival in Sussex, Wisconsin. For the last several years, our team has participated in the Parade by driving our robots through the heart of our hometown in an effort to attract interest to our program.
  • Mini-Regional
Team 537 Charger Robotics hosts an annual Open House and mock competition before ship as a way to help local teams practice for their actual competition. The Mini-Regional also serves as a great way to bring in members of the community to see what our hard work and dedication has resulted in.
  • Pauline Haas Library Icecream Social
This is a community social representing many different clubs. Our Robotics team set up a demonstration area with a partial field to promote FIRST to people in our community in an effort to get them involved in Science and Technology.
  • Robo Run/Walk
The event is a 5.37K Fun Run/Walk. The purpose is to promote Charger
Robotics and FIRST throughout the community.
  • Rockwell Engineers Week
Every year, Rockwell Automation celebrates Engineers Week by having a mini-FIRST competition in Downtown Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Students are split into teams for the day. Each team has a Rockwell Engineer assigned to them to help complete the task at hand. They are given a time frame and a kit of parts to work with.
  • Ronald McDonald House
Charger Robotics donates a huge amount of can tabs to the Ronald McDonald House to help children in need.
  • Summerfest Demo
  • SWAT Bot
Team 537 was excited to work with the Waukesha County SWAT team in developing a robot to aid them in situations where it is dangerous to send a human . Unfortunately, the program was suspended after one year due to County Budget restraints.

Fundraisers

  • Can do
Charger Robotics Team 537 is proud to reduce, reuse and recycle. We recycle our aluminum scraps and other materials from our program as well as aluminum cans year round, in order help with fund raising as well as do our part to reduce waste. We are appreciative of Miller Compressing's support in this endeavor.
  • Moe's Southwest Grill
Spend a night eating at Moe's Southwest Grill in Pewaukee and they donate a portion of their profit to our team. Always a good night to showoff our robot to the unsuspecting public.
  • Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre (past event)
Charger Robotics is pleased to present this the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater, an annual fundraiser put on by the members of Team 537. Guests are challenged to determine \"whodunit\" as they observe the murder suspects in three short scenes and enjoy a delicious, three-course meal. This combination of food and entertainment is sure to be a fun time for all members of the family and is an excellent way to support the team.
  • Quikrete
Quikrete allowed Charger Robotics to sell concessions during their annual brick-laying competition.
  • Shopko Give Back, Get Back
Buy a certificate for $5 and get $5 off entire purchase plus 20% off Apparal and 10% off General Merchandise. Team retains 100% of the proceeds.
  • Wisconsin Robotics Raffle
Each year Charger Robotics runs the WI-FIRST raffle to help not only our team, but many other Wisconsin Robotics teams earn money in a fun exciting raffle. Prizes total over $3000 each year. More information can be found out our Wisconsin FIRST Raffle page.
